I misplaced Mary's e-mail address. Can u let her know the following:
I have some bad news.
My mom lost her balance & fell on Sunday night -trying to get ready for bed. She broke her leg in three places & is in the hospital.
She fell while walking into her bedroom with a glass of water in her hand & somehow lost her balance. She was getting ready to go to sleep. She heard a snap while falling (probably, the bones breaking) & then she dragged herself on her butt, to the kitchen & somehow pulled the cordless phone off the wall & called me.
I am sick myself with a bad cold/flu & I called a neighbor to stay with my mom until George, could get there. (Neighbor has access to my mom's garage that he rents & the garage leads into the basement & then the neighbor was able to go into mom's apt).
I, also, called Stas & Ala and they went into the ambulance with my mom, until we could get to Queens.
Breakage is in two areas on her right leg (below the knee).
George & I are trying to decide what is the best thing to do for my mom (cast leg & go to a Rehabilitation Hospital for a few months to have everything heal/mend on its own or to have Surgery). Not sure, what to do for her.
There is a really good Rehab Hospital 2 miles from my home that is really good (Helen Hayes Hospital). Right now, my mom is in Queens at Elmhurst Hosp.
Mom will be 80 years old in August.
